Session Types and Rates

Virtual Private Tutoring Sessions:

Virtual tutoring sessions are one hour of virtual tutoring through Zoom, for up to two students. For a solo session, I charge 60$ for the hour and for a duo session I charge $75 total for one hour. This hour can be used for any of the courses I can teach, even if you have previously worked with me on a different course, and you can schedule sessions as needed or book regular slots in advance based on your preference.

Virtual Group Review Session:

For groups of three or more students, I offer review sessions featuring a more structured, lecture-style atmosphere for 135$ per hour flat rate. I strongly recommend private sessions for most students because I am able to provide more direct attention to the individual for the entirety of your session, but large group sessions are often a great way to simply review large amounts of material before a test, or refocus and get a little extra class time on certain topics in a more cost effective way.

In-Person Sessions:

As of right now, all my available sessions are virtual, but if you would prefer face-to-face instruction in the greater Houston area, please feel free to reach out and we can explore our options together!

Offered Courses

This is a list of the courses I am able to provide support for at this time. I am continually adding to this list as I build my own skills, so if you don’t see your course listed, let me know what I can be working on to better help you!

  • AP Physics- All levels
  • Pre-Calculus
  • Highschool Algebra 1 and 2
  • Highschool Geometry
  • Pre-AP Physics

Why Private Tutoring?

I started Hiarker Tutoring because I believe a strong education is key in our world today and should never be made inaccessible to anyone who chooses to pursue it. Even the brightest students can run into obstacles along the way that make achieving success seem impossible, and with Hiarker Tutoring, my goal is to remove those one by one until the path to your goal seems clear again!

Personalized Attention:

As class sizes get bigger and courses get more advanced, it can be challenging for the school systems to address individual student’s needs during the school day, and parents and guardians have enough to worry about without trying to master every kind of higher level math and all the teaching tools necessary to support their student at home. With a private tutoring session it is all about you and your needs as a student. I can address specific concerns that may or may not have been covered in class, and help you build strategies for making the most out of the time you have with your teachers.

Targeting Long-Term Success:

One of the things that makes math and science courses particularly challenging is how much the higher level courses build on previous material. Any student can have a bad day, week or even teacher and find themselves struggling later on with a particular concept. Within a few sessions, I am confident we can identify any gaps in your learning together, and rebuild with an even stronger foundation for future learning.

Owning Your Learning Journey:

Sometimes the biggest thing standing in our way is just fear. All throughout my educational and professional career, I have heard one heartbreaking message more than anyone should: “I’m just not any good at math.” Math is totally weird, and complex and all the words to describe it were made up by people who died ages ago, and it is all so, limitless. You have every right to be intimidated, but I am here to remind you: no one is born knowing Calculus and you can still ride a bike and experience gravity without writing all of Newton’s equations in a lab book to describe it. It is difficult enough to learn something complex; believing you can’t can make it feel impossible! Allow yourself to start fresh, and together we can explore all sorts of possibilities, you don’t have to tackle it all alone!
